My First Blog

To be true, this is not my very first blog.. I gave a try almost two years back.. An attempt not just out of sheer interest to know what blogging is, but what i felt was a need of the hour to put the so called thoughts/stories of a friend of mine. Though it was well appreciated by many as a debut blog, I felt it to be against what i stated in the Disclaimer... and hence I removed the post and went astray from blogging... Now that I'm back, I pray things to turn out better this time :)

Experience Chennai

It was not the first time I've been to Chennai... Many a times I've been there before. But never before for a stay more than a few days. And so this time my stay in Chennai, for about six months, presented me with a lot of new experiences. Yeah experience as one calls it:- good or bad :->

I started my journey to Chennai in the legendary train 'No. 20 Madras Mail'. Excuse me that is no longer No.20. It is 2624 Chennai Mail.. Even the place has changed from Madras to Chennai. then what is in a train number... Well I started my journey contemplating the all time hit movie named after this train...That shows how jobless I was. Wish I had good reading habit so that i could have something to do.. I've to admit the fact that I rarely read anything except Newspapers. The very next choice is music and in my case i didn't have a music player then...The passengers in my bay were all were seriously indulged in reading and seemed to have no intention to open their mouth. So I was left with no choice but to dream.. I don't know how much time passed, i was woken up by the ticket examiner. . The lousy black coats/ suits no way suiting the climate for the TTE's is something i always feel weird. The only good thing I find about that is it gives some mothers travelling with kids a relief : someone kids are afraid of, And hence make them obey.

Soon it was dinner time and I unpacked my food-packet for the last meal from home for a while...Yeah, the last meal is always the tastiest meal :- Food mixed with mother's love and affection :) Around 10:00 PM and it's lights off time. I decided to stay awake for a while. Not because I enjoyed staying awake lonely in a night train with nothing to do, The other alternative was even worse...I've got a side upper berth :( A small berth by itself, after Lalluji's side middle innovation and removal , side upper now looks more like a luggage space. Theoretically it may have enough space for a passenger, but it requires someone else to pack you up there in the tiny space. Somehow got in and lied there thinking about different ways of positioning the berths in a compartment to improve the comfort... I understood:- necessity is the mother of inventions :)

May be because I spent too much time calculating in the night, woke up late. I got down suddenly. Even without looking out of the window, I knew train was approaching Chennai Central, from the peculiar smell ..This is what I learnt from my earlier visits to Chennai and this is what one calls experience :) Train reached station and i got out with my heavy luggage. Oh My God feeling thirsty.. it's just 8 in the morning.. aah yeah.. I've to get used to this.. This is Chennai :). Thankfully my uncle sent a car to pick me up. Reached the accommodation arranged for me. The very first thing i did was to turn on the air conditioner. It was very hot. And the driver smiled at me and said, this is not what we called hot...And so the real experience is still waiting.. Later during my stay at Chennai, I realised that when other places have 4 seasons, Chennai is blessed with only 3 namely HOT, HOTTER , HOTTEST. In a few days after my arrival, Chennai was having it's superlative Season. I managed to keep away from the scorching heat by staying indoors most of the time . I'll write about my further experiences in another post.
